New photography exhibition: “Hush” – Noa Ben Shalom | 8th Mar, 2016 - 7th Apr, 2016
The book “Hush” tells the story of a society that lives in a recurring cycle of violent eruptions, where life is crushed over and over again and then rebuilt. Through personal correspondence and photographs gathered over a decade, Ben Shalom turns her camera from the common sights of direct violence and focuses on elusive ways where we almost do not notice, how the confrontation has penetrated almost all parts of life.
The “Hush” exhibition, is an ordered exhibition of the department, and relates to the question of book arrangement, as an object and as a tank of content and is showing in the gallery space which is 3D. While the book is based on the fact that it is a machine that turns pages, where the reader looks at photographed images and reads the text – activities that are intimate and individualistic, however the gallery space is public and allows for a type of meeting, reading and a new look, the possibilities of new activities like sound and moving imagery.
