2400 students commenced studies this week at Hadassah Academic College. As is common at academic institutions around the world, the new students were provided with special activities to become acquainted with the College. Students met with the College President, the Vice-President and Dean of Academic Affairs and department heads, and learned about the unique services provided by the College including the "Above and Beyond" Honors program, the "Challenge Center" for students with disabilities, the availability of workshops to cope with the challenge of learning, and more. Students toured the campus including the photography gallery, computer laboratories, library, cafeteria, etc.

College officials noted a significant increase in enrolment in the School of Management's Health, Hospitality, and Human Resources learning tracks, and in the Department of Politics and Communication. There was also a rise in enrolment in the Department of Environmental Health Science which is an applied science degree program that provides students with the knowledge and skills to identify and track pollutants that impact on the environment.

The College is also embarking on a major campus expansion program with the building of an Interdisciplinary Science Center made possible through a lead grant of over $7 million from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.

College President Prof. Bertold Fridlender commented, "Hadassah Academic College continues to lead in higher education in Jerusalem and attract students from all parts of Israel to live and learn here. We will do all we can to provide our students with an enriching and challenging learning experience".
