A lecture of the Adler Center aphasia team and representatives of the Center was held last week as part of a team-building day for the  BrainsGate startup company. BrainsGate deals in the innovative development of a medical product able to change the rehabilitation process of stroke survivors, mainly those suffering from aphasia. During the meeting, a lecture was delivered by Daphna Olnik, head of the Adler Aphasia Center in the college, explaining the uniqueness of the language and communication damage suffered by post-stroke aphasia patients.

After the lecture, a meeting was held in which Merav Raveh, representing the center team spoke with Avi Nadara and Haim Kol, both aphasia patients. The center staff members gave a first-hand account of what living with aphasia is like.

Company employees were introduced to the personal and emotional aspects of aphasia patients and their families. This meeting gave them a deeper understanding of the importance of the development work they perform. This meeting was one of a series of meetings held by the center team and members, intended to raise awareness of aphasia in Israel.
