This week, the OptiNice optical retail chain awarded scholarships to students pursuing a master's degree in Optometry. The scholarship provides one-half of tuition. OptiNice's scholarships are to benefit students from the Arab sector studying toward a M.Optom degree at Hadassah Academic College. Mustafa Daka, President and owner of OptiNice is a graduate of the College.
Mustafa Daka, founder of the successful chain has 20 years of experience in optometry and wide knowledge of the industry. OptiNice was founded six years ago and today operates 12 retail outlets throughout Israel. The chain is dedicated to high professional standards and recently inaugurated an unique clinic to treat special cases ("OptiNice Medical Center") for patients with Keratoconus and related eye disease.
The decision by OptiNice to award scholarships in this field is out of a desire by Mr. Daka to encourage young Arab youth to develop and succeed in the field. He hopes that this kind of social investment will encourage Arab youth to pursue careers in optometry and ensure the profession's high professional standards and development.
College President Prof. Bertold Fridlender comments: "This is a perfect combination of a College alumnus who succeeded in his industry thanks to his studies at the College, and decided to "give back" and invest in students, knowing how important academic studies are to one's success in life. We commend Mustafa Daka for his contribution to our students and thank him for being an ambassador both of the College and the Department of Optometry".
