Over the last three years, there has been an increase of over 300% in the demand for employees with a biotechnology degree. This high demand is mainly focused on academics without formal work experience. The Jerusalem Development Authority reports that this is directly proportional to the increase number of companies in this field. The College's Career Center reports a gradual increase in requests from Jerusalem employers for bachelor's degree graduates in biotechnology. Over the last three years, there has been an increase of over 300% for career openings in the city.
In 2014 there were 31 job openings, in 2015 openings rose to 83, and in the first half of 2016 the number reached 73. If the trend continues in this direction, the number of job openings in this field at the end of this year will surpass 100. It is important to emphasize that most of these job openings are for entry level graduates with no experience, which makes them relevant for those who just completed their bachelor’s degree, even if they have not worked in this field during their studies.
