In June 2019, HAC was delighted to host the CHW ‘Unforgettable Trip’ for CHW’s major supporters. In the presence of Marla, Aubrey and Alyse Dan, we were thrilled to dedicate The DAN Department of Creative Human Design, and to witness the presentation of the first annual Dan Family Scholarships for two of our outstanding students in this flagship degree program at HAC. We were also excited to mark the second annual donation of CHW towards the CHW Centre for Clinical Training & Community Care, which operates in our Department of Communication Disorders. Our guests witnessed firsthand the nature of the critical community health services that we provide in our on-site clinics. In addition, the group learned from former Canadian audiologist Dr. Devora Brand, a lecturer in the Department, and Dr. Cahtia Adelman (an HAC lecturer who is also affiliated with Hadassah Medical Center), about the various activities underway in the Centre, and the many outreach efforts undertaken by HAC students throughout Jerusalem.
Later, our guests heard the insights of a unique student panel representing the wide diversity of our student population. The panel included a Moslem Arab, new immigrants, and Druze, Ethiopian-Israeli, and ultra-Orthodox students. The guests were moved that these students, all young women, expressed how much they were committed to making a significant impact on Israeli society, and to helping other people. All of them came to study at HAC because of the uniqueness of our degree programs and because of the personal support available for HAC students. The guests were impressed with the panel’s report of the strong bonds of solidarity amongst HAC’s diverse population groups, and the environment of tolerance and inclusion that prevails on our campus.
