Introduction

Machine Learning has become an invaluable approach to retrieve meaningful information as datasets are growing in demand. Machine Learning is met across many walks of life in the modern world. This course is meant for those aiming to use these tools in their domain of study or work.

Course Structure

  • 14 sessions (28 academic hours total) of online lectures via Zoom on Tuesdays 18:00 - 20:00 (IST)

*All lectures will be recorded and available for offline viewing

Assessment

  • 3 small assignments and a final project for those seeking academic credit

Course Goals

  • Introduce the history of ML – from the 1950s up to the revolution of the early 21st Century
  • Provide tools for communication with Data scientists / Computer Science experts
  • Demonstrate the importance of “Big Data” for modern ML and show methods for
    collecting such databases
  • Show what can be expected from ML tools and what problems may be resolved based on these tools
  • Present the limitations of ML: potential biases, hazards and risks
  • Highlight the current implementation of ML and the different disciplines using it

Instructor

 

Dr. Itay Gat “Talpiyot” program graduate, Ph.D. in Computer Science from Hebrew University. Served in the IDF Research and Development Corps, later worked in the field of language processing, and led a research group in the area of computational medicine. Itay formerly served as a senior VP at Mobileye and is currently a tour guide.
