B.Sc. Program in Computer Science
Goals
The department offers a broad foundation in software and programming, computer science theory, hardware, and computer systems, while providing a suitable mathematical background. At the same time, in the advanced stage of their studies, students can specialize in various areas, including advanced topics in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cyber. The department prepares its graduates for careers in the high-tech industries, as well as for advanced degrees.
General Description
Core Studies include:
- Programming and Software: Mastery in C, C++, Python, Java, and other programming languages
- Hardware and Computer Systems: Operating systems, databases, computer networks, and cybersecurity
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Robotics, computer vision, and advanced AI topics
- Mathematics and Theoretical Foundations: Topics include algebra, calculus, discrete mathematics, probability, and computational theory
Special Activities:
- Flexible study schedules (with an option of spreading studies over a 4-year period)
- Final year projects often in collaboration with leading industry partners
- Opportunities for internships and real-world applications during the degree program
Students take 140 credits, about 180 semester hours of study, over three years (six semesters).
The program at Hadassah College successfully addresses the following challenges:
- Flexible schedule - The degree in computer science can be spread out into 4 years, by building a personalized study program. This can be suitable for those who wish to learn more slowly in order to deepen and expand, as well as for those who choose to combine studies and work.
- Option for a final project - Studies at Hadassah Academic College include the option of a final project in which the student expresses the knowledge he acquired during his undergraduate studies, as well as his aspirations regarding his career in computer science.
- Rapid integration into the industry – Some students integrate into the workplace during their studies, and carry out a final project in the companies in which they work. Quite a few people integrate into the work even before the final project, according to their talents and abilities.
Many of the students in the department start working during their studies. Those who prefer to focus on their studies find work within a short time of graduation in a variety of companies and positions, according to their skills and inclinations. Graduates who wish to expand their education can pursue a master's degree in computer science.
