Faculty and Staff - Inclusive Industrial Design (B.Des) The DAN Department of Creative Human Design

Gideon is an industrial designer whose work integrates professional practice, research, and education. He holds a BFA with Distinction from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, and an MID with Very High Distinction in Medical and Social Design from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.

With decades of experience in Europe and Israel, Gideon has worked as a senior designer in leading studios and independently, developing products across high-tech, medical, security, and consumer sectors for international markets. His work combines design practice with user research, methodology development, and team leadership, and has received international recognition through awards, exhibitions, and publications.

Alongside his professional work, Gideon has been actively involved in the design community, serving as Vice President of the Israeli Design Community (ICOGRADA & ICSID) and as Chair of the Division of Industrial Design.

Teaching has been an integral part of his career since 1992. He is a senior faculty member at the Multidisciplinary Academic Center in Jerusalem, where he served as Head of the Department (2017–2022), and has also taught for many years at Shenkar College and at Bezalel Academy.

In his academic work, Gideon develops and leads courses focused on design methodologies, innovation, and structured processes, exploring the relationship between idea and form, and between concept and execution.

Ifat is a design researcher and industrial designer. She holds a B.Des. in Industrial Design from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2003), and an M.A. in Design Research from London Metropolitan University (2006). She is currently a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences at the University of Haifa.
Her research focuses on participatory design in medical and rehabilitative environments, aiming to advance healthcare through design.
A senior lecturer, she initiates and leads collaborations with non-profit organizations, hospitals, health centers, and a wide range of institutions in Israel and abroad.
She is the recipient of the Sandberg Prize for Research and Development in Design and Architecture for 2017–2018.
