Dr. Irit Cohen, Ph.D. Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School, Jerusalem in Tumor Biology,Dept. Thesis topic: The involvement of Heparanase and PAR1 in breast cancer progression. Supervisor: Prof. I. Vlodavsky and Prof. R. Bar-Shavit. M.Sc in the same Lab, Join the direct PhD program at end of the second year. M.Sc degree received with research plan approval. B.Sc in Biotechnology and Environmental Sciences at Tel Hai Academic College graduated with excellence award. Upon graduation I joined QBI, a company developing a novel RNAi-based therapeutics, as  a scientific researcher in the filed of drug discovery and evaluation, from basic research to pre-clinical studies including deep understanding in cancer models and drug tracking models. For the past two years I have returned to the academy and I am the lab manager of two senior researchers, in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, in the Faculty of Medicine of the Hebrew University, where I promotes independent research and instructing graduate students.

    Dr. Orna Bern

    Teacher

I acquired my academic research training at Bar Ilan University in the Department of Molecular Biology.

The subject of my doctoral thesis was "Studies on the functioning of the p51 ferT and p94 fer kinases  in cell lines".

During the research I experimented with a variety of methods in molecular

biology as well as in cryobiology.

Upon graduation, I joined the in vitro fertilization laboratory at the

"Assaf Harofeh-Shamir" medical center and was the deputy director of the laboratory.

I presented papers at conferences and taught post graduated doctors at

Tel Aviv University and the Technion

Today I manage the fertility (sperm) and in vitro fertilization laboratories at the

"Shaare Zedek medical center - Bikur Cholim campus" and also serve as a senior

embryologist at the Herzliya Medical Center (HMC).

In addition, I serve as the secretary of the "Israel Fertility Association (IFA)"

and a member of the Statutory Council for Medical Laboratories that advises

    the Ministry of Health.

  • Racheli Wakshlak

    Dr. Racheli Wakshlak (Ph.D)

    Teacher

Dr. Racheli Wakshlak obtained her PhD in Chemistry

from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and specializes

in materials science, particularly in ceramic and glass materials.

Her research focuses on the intersection of chemistry and materials

science with the realms of craft, art, and design.

According to Dr. Wakshlak, adopting an interdisciplinary approach

allows for a more comprehensive understanding of processes

and phenomena, leading to novel discoveries that may not

    emerge within individual disciplines.

In her current research, she explores the Implementation

of advanced ceramic materials technology into traditional

ceramics and glass production methods. Specifically,

she is developing kiln-free glasses and glazes using the sol-gel

technology, thereby expanding the range of colors and effects

    that can be achieved.
Her objective is to revolutionize traditional creative practices

by introducing innovative solutions to address environmental

challenges such as the climate crisis, energy scarcity, and the

toxicity of metal colorants. These issues pose significant obstacles

to traditional practices, necessitating adaptation and change

within the artisanal and industrial sectors.

Dr. Wakshlak is a lecturer of various courses at Hadassah

Academic College including Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry,

and of Ceramic and Glass Technology courses at Bezalel Academy

    of Arts and Design.
