The College recently offered a course whereby students documented stories of seniors in their golden years. Within the framework of the course 12 students interviewed 12 elderly people in the “Bayit Balev” assisted living facility in Rehavia, Jerusalem. The students encouraged the seniors to talk about their life stories and documented them in different ways. The projects were then shown at an exhibition at the “Bayit Balev” facility.

Each student-senior pair conveyed the memories that arose in the joint conversation to create a rich and varied project. For example: A grandmother to grandchildren and great grandchildren who enjoys writing created a children’s book together with a very talented student. A meeting of an elderly gentleman with a student of industrial design recalled fond memories of a past as a teacher of mechanics. This brought the senior back to his best years and with a spark in his eyes and a tickling in his fingers, he created a tool in the workshop at Hadassah College. The tool became a metaphor for a capsule that holds his past memories.

The course was led by Ella Maor, an instructor in the College's Department of Photographic Communication, and Malka Benzimon, a social worker at “Bayit Balev”, assisted living facility.
